Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 3500 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 5:20 p.m. on 26 March

March 27, 2020 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 3500 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 5:20 p.m. on Thursday (March 26).

The identity of the male victim, 39, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Brionees and Officer C. Dinh reported:

The victim was operating a black Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on the Gulf Freeway when he took the exit ramp toward Scott Street at a high rate of speed. The victim lost control of the motorcycle, failed to maintain a single lane and struck the concrete retaining wall ramp.

The operator (victim) and his female passenger, 33, were ejected from the motorcycle over the freeway wall and landed on the grassy area below the ramp. Both were transported to an area hospital where the victim was pronounced deceased. The passenger sustained multiple injuries and is reported in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing.
