Houston PD: Investigation Into Fatal Crash At 6500 North Freeway

Press release from the Houston Police Department:

May 5, 2020 - A man critically injured in a crash at 6500 North Freeway about 9:20 p.m. last Friday (May 1) had died from his injuries.

The identity of the victim, 62, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The man was eventually transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced deceased on Monday (May 4).

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Benavidez and Officer D. Nguyen reported:

A witness stated a black Chevrolet Impala was travelling northbound on the North Freeway at the above address when the vehicle veered across lanes of the roadway and struck a concrete barrier. Paramedics transported the driver (victim) of the Chevrolet to the hospital.

Evidence indicated alcohol might have played a factor in the crash. No other persons or vehicle were involved in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
