The male victim, 76, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer W. Smith reported:

The victim was crossing Lawndale northbound at the above address, not in a crosswalk. While in an eastbound lane, he was struck by a black Kia Optima. The driver of the Kia remained at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim did not have the right of way.
Currently, there are no charged in this incident, pending further investigation.
