Houston PD Investigation Into Male Found Deceased At 900 Commerce Street (Update)

Houston police have learned the identity of a man found deceased at 900 Commerce Street about 10:55 a.m. on Friday (May 22).

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has identified him as Gary Dwayne Gipson, 63. His cause of death is pending autopsy results.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:

Bicyclists riding near the above address observed the victim floating in Buffalo Bayou.

Officers with the HPD Dive Team retrieved him from the bayou and he was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. There were no obvious signs of trauma.

The investigation is pending an examination by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
