Jose Lona (H/m, 30) is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Lona is attached to this news release.
The victim, Brett Foley, 48, was transported to Memorial Herman Southwest Hospital in critical condition. Doctors pronounced him deceased on March 27, 2019.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives Sergeant M. Miller and Detective D. Stark reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to an assault call at a condominium complex at the above address and found Mr. Foley unresponsive in the parking lot. He appeared to have been assaulted and suffered internal and external injuries. Paramedics responded to the scene and transported him to the hospital.
Further investigation revealed Foley had been in a dispute over money with his next-door neighbor (Lona) which turned into a robbery. Lona was identified as a suspect in this case and, on March 23, 2020, he was arrested and charged in this case.
