Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal assault of a man at 200 Delmar Street about 3 p.m. on November 6, 2019.

The suspect, Alan Bischof (w/m, 81), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 183rd State District Court. A booking photo of Bischof is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Craig Lamell, 65, who sustained severe head trauma and died at an area hospital on December 2.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Detective J. Roscoe reported:

Mr. Lamell was walking near his residence at the above address when he was assaulted by an unknown suspect(s). Paramedics transported Lamell to the hospital where he remained for an extended period of time. Prior to his death, Lamell told police he had been assaulted while on a trail at the above address.

Further investigation identified Bischof as the suspect in this case. He was arrested on Tuesday (May 19) and charged for his role in Lamell's death.
