Houston Police Department Charges Suspect In Shooting

The suspect, Oscar Emmanual Mejia Madrid is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 228th State District Court.

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 5555 Holly View Drive about 12:35 p.m. last Thursday (January 23).

The suspect, Oscar Emmanual Mejia Madrid (H/m, 18), is charged with aggravated assault of a family member in the 228th State District Court. He is accused in the shooting of Mario Jose Lopez, 18, of the above address.

HPD Major Assaults & Family Violence Division Officer J. De La Torre reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at an apartment complex at the above address and found Mr. Lopez with a gunshot wound. Paramedics transported Lopez to an area hospital where doctors stated he is expected to survive his wounds.

Mejia was detained at the scene and admitted to his role in the shooting.
