Houston Police Officer Charged With Sexual Assault Of A Child

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston police officer was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child, police said.

Sgt. Tung Tran, a 23-year officer with the Houston Police Department, was arrested as part of an investigation by the Hedwig Village Police Department.

"I am deeply troubled by the alleged actions of this 23-year veteran HPD employee, who was immediately relieved of duty when the accusations were brought to our attention," Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said in a statement.

The Hedwig Village Police Department investigation is ongoing, and the Houston Police Department is conducting an administrative investigation.
