Houston’s Village School Hosts Diversity Day

600+ students celebrate their diverse backgrounds

Houston is the country’s most diverse city, and the Village School mirrors this, with a student body made up of 60+ different countries. When students were gearing up for prom on April 8 and planning their Spirit Week, they took it upon themselves to create a day of meaningful discussion and collaboration called “Show Your Diversity” day.

Nearly 600 high school students participated in a day of student-led workshops and also took part in musical and artistic performances that celebrated their diverse cultures, ideas, and beliefs. Village students led and engaged in interactive discussions, and even sampled foods from their classmate’s home countries. The day was a success, and students had a blast learning about the global community that they live in.
