Houston School Shooting: Student's TikTok Shows Blood, Aftermath

HOUSTON, TX — A TikTok video from a student shows the aftermath of Friday's charter school shooting in Houston.
A 25-year-old former student opened fire at YES Prep Southwest Secondary School just before noon Friday, injuring Principal Eric Espinoza. Police arrested Dexter Harold Kelsey, and Espinoza was taken to a hospital and released Friday night after undergoing surgery.
The TikTok video, shot by a female student at YES Prep Southwest, shows students being led out of the school with their hands up as law enforcement officers in bulletproof vests line the hallways. Students were led past the entryway and the shattered glass door where the shooting took place, and blood can be seen on the ground.

The video, which has over 7.1 million views in three days, sparked renewed conversation about gun control in the comments.

"Kids aren't supposed to worry about [whether] they will be safe in school. My heart goes out to all [affected]," one TikTok user wrote.
Kelsey is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and is being held at Harris County on $5.25 million bond, court documents show.
