Houston Texans Moving Training Camp To West Virginia
Change of scenery and milder climate could yield bigger dividends in the form of victories for the 2017 season.
HOUSTON, TX -- Houston Texans fans who’ve long had a tradition of spending some of those hot summer days watching star players prepare for the season during training camp sessions across the street from NRG Stadium will have go a lot farther to keep that tradition going.
That’s because the Houston Texans, who’ve never held training camp outside the Houston city limits, will be holding their camp this year at The Greenbrier at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Since 2013, the New Orlean Saints have held their training camp there, but reports began surfacing earlier this week that the Texans would be replacing the Saints at The Greenbrier, according to a Houston Chronicle report.

"We are thrilled with the opportunity to hold training camp at the Greenbrier," general manager Rick Smith said in a statement. "It's a wonderful place, and the facilities and climate combine for an ideal environment as our team trains, bonds and prepares for the 2017 season."
Meanwhile, those diehard fans who can stand to schedule some vacation time at and travel outside of Houston to a milder summer climate to see the team, can buy a round-trip ticket from Houston Hobby to Yeager Airport in Charleston, West Virginia, about two-hours from the Greenbrier, for about $550 per person, depending on when the flight is booked.

Other charges, such as room and board, and food, also come into play for any potential excursion to see the Texans in training camp.
Dates for training camp are expected to be announced later this year.
