Things To Do In Houston: Festival Season Kicks Off This Weekend
Festivals are happening this weekend in Houston, Tomball, Galveston and The Woodlands

HOUSTON, TX -- If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, then chances are you won’t have to look very far.
That’s because what’s often referred to as festival season in Texas begins this weekend, and in Houston alone, there are lots to choose from. (Sign up for Patch’s daily newsletter for your neighborhood.)
One of the most widely attended festivals is the Tomball German Heritage Festival that begins Friday, March 31, and continues through to Sunday, April 2.

You don’t have to have a German bone in your body to enjoy this event, which as grown to attract thousands since its start 16 years ago.
The festival happens in Old Town Tomball, near 201 S. Elm St, Main Street (FM 2920) and Market Street, with 4 stages of live music performances, ethnic and festival food, beer, wine, 175 street vendors, all kinds of German souvenirs and clothing, arts crafts, antiques, pony rides, petting zoo, strolling music makers, street performers, and much more. Admission, parking and shuttle are free.

Don’t like oompah bands and German food? Take a trip east on FM 2920 into Old Town Spring for the Texas Art and Wine Festival.
Wineries from all over Texas will bring out their best wines for sampling and a few for you to take home.
Some of Texas’ most talented artists will also be there, showcasing and selling creative art in photography, clothing, handmade jewelry, paintings, and crafts.
You will also enjoy gourmet foods and sauces.
The two-day event is held at the west entrance to Old Town Spring on Saturday, April 1st from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and Sunday, April 2nd from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The event is free, unless you want to take part in wine tasting. Tickets can be purchased online.
Crawfish will be on the menu at the 22nd Annual Bayou City Canjun Festival, happening April 1-2 at Trader’s Village.
Authentic Cajun foods will be freshly prepared and served by the French Quarter Market & Grill Restaurant, featuring traditional favorites such as Crawfish Etouffee, Red Beans with Sausage and Rice, Fried Boudin Balls, Sausage Po-boys, Fried Alligator, and thousands of pounds of spicy boiled crawfish.
You can also enjoy some of the best toe-tapping zydeco and Cajun style from noon to 5:30 pm. Both days.
Gates open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Parking is $4, but admission is free.
The Houston Whatever Fest will be held this weekend in downtown Houston.
The two-day event features 80 acts performing music, comedy and art, on five stages.
The Festival includes a diverse mix music genres, toptier comedy acts and a variety of art experiences along with culinary options from some of the best local food trucks, Houston-centric vendors, unique street performers, and more. Continuing with its commitment to showcasing national talent alongside up-and-coming performers.
One day tickets are $55 per person, with children eight years old and younger, free.

Galveston will have a few festivals of their own this weekend, too.
The 22nd Annual Grand Kids Festival will be held Saturday, April 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Galveston Island.
The event is a celebration of folk arts and crafts, and includes three outdoor stages, an indoor stage (at The Grand), a storytelling tent, over a dozen activity areas, over forty activity booths as well as food and beverage booths, and best of all it’s free.
