K-9 Cop Apprehends Bootcamp Escapee Near Humble

Escapee who ran from a correctional facility Wednesday evening, was found hiding in a wooded area near Wilson Road: Reports

HUMBLE, TX — An 18-year old man who escaped from an harris County correctional boot camp Wednesday evening, was caught Thursday morning near Beltway 8 and Wilson Road.

The 18-year old man was seen running into the woods in the 2300 block of Atascocita Road at about 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to media reports. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

The man, who has not been identified, was seen by an off-duty officer in the area of North Beltway 8 and Wilson Road at about 2 a.m., who called for backup to set up a perimeter, KPRC reported.

Officers who were searching the area with K-9 patrols released one of the K-9’s into the woods, and the man was brought down and detained by the K-9, KTRK reported.

The escapee was treated at the scene for a dog bite, and taken into custody and faces a charge of escaping a correctional facility.
