Man Charged With Murder In Houston DWI Crash That Killed Minor

A 5-year-old child was ejected from the car in the crash Saturday and was pronounced dead at a hospital on Sunday.

HOUSTON, TX — A Houston man who crashed on Southwest Freeway while intoxicated on Saturday was charged with murder in the death of his five-year-old passenger.

Paul Rodriguez, 30, crashed while driving south on Southwest Freeway, causing the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle. The passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital Sunday, according to authorities.

Rodriguez, who had two other passengers in the car, also is charged with intoxicated assault and driving while intoxicated with a child under 15, court documents show. His bond is set for $276,500, with the murder charge accounting for $250,000.
