Memorial Fund Set Up For Family Of Man Killed At Gun Range

Family and friends of a man killed at a Cypress gun range are hoping to raise $25,000 to pay for funeral expenses.

CYPRESS, TX — Friends of a man who was killed in an accidental shooting in Cypress, Tuesday have set up a memorial fund to raise money toward funeral expenses.

Friends of the Cummings family set up the page on YouCaring.com with a goal of raising $25,000, and as of 1:30 p.m. had raised $11,606 toward that goal.

Joshua Cummings, 36, was shot and killed by a stray bullet Tuesday morning as he arrived at the Hot Well Shooting Range, at U.S. 290 East and Barker Cypress Road.

Cummings was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital, and died a short time later.

Investigators said an employee was servicing a hunting rifle when the weapon discharged, hitting Cummings in the parking lot about 80 feet away.

The accidental shooting is under investigation by homicide investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Cummings leaves behind a wife and three children.

Funeral arrangements for Cummings are pending.
