Here are the top stories today in Houston:

1. Migos rapper Takeoff was shot dead at a Houston bowling alley around 3 a.m. last night. Rappers Quavo and Takeoff were allegedly shooting dice at 810 Billiards & Bowling when a fight broke out and shooting began. Three people in total ended up being shot. Two were injured while Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene. Migos hit superstardom back in 2013 shortly after the release of their hit single "Versace". Takeoff was the youngest member of the trio rap group at 28 years old. Aside from being his rap partner, Quavo is also Takeoff's uncle. The two of them recently released a duo project called "Unc & Phew". RIP. (KXAN.com)
2. Roadwork at Shepherd-Durham may not see completion until 2028. The roadwork in question is part of a $120 million project called the Memorial Heights Redevelopment Authority Shepherd-Durham Project. Boy, that's a mouthful. When construction is finally completed, the thoroughfare will lose a lane to make room for bikers but gain dedicated turning lanes at many major intersections. Previous analysis shows that congestion on the street was mostly due to turning traffic, and city officials believe the changes will reduce traffic congestion. (Houston Chronicle)
3. The Astros say they are ready to face the Phillies' frothing fan base who have a reputation for inappropriate behavior. Game 3 of the World Series will take place in Philadelphia tonight, where fans of the Phillies have made themselves famous for throwing batteries at opposing players, booing Santa Claus, and more. Astros relief pitcher Hector Neris played with the Phillies for eight seasons and said, "Philadelphia (fans) come hard. Astros fans show respect to everybody, don't do anything crazy to the players. They just try to support the whole team for the whole year." Southern hospitality goes a long way. (ABC13)
4. The family of Houstonian John Davis is still looking for answers a year later after their beloved husband and father disappeared on Halloween last year. Davis had driven an 18-wheeler to Dallas that night to deliver the truck, but that was the last time his wife Patricia ever heard from him. According to her, the man who was supposed to receive the delivery claimed that Davis never showed up. Months later, the 18-wheeler Davis was driving showed up at a truck stop in Mount Vernon, east of Dallas. Patricia reported the case to Houston police, but she hasn't heard any answers from them since. (KHOU.com)
5. A 72-year-old Houston Medicare scammer was sentenced to federal prison for masterminding a $21 million home healthcare fraud conspiracy. Felix Amos will serve two and a half years in prison and three years probation, as well as pay $21.2 million in restitution to the government, after pleading guilty to the scamming charges levied against him. Amos, his wife, and another woman submitted claims for patients who did not need services which ended up netting them over $20 million from the federal health insurance program. Amos now owns a $3.5 million house in Houston as well as two other properties.

• Despite some politicians claiming that noncitizens are casting votes, studies show that this isn't the case. A Georgia voting audit from this year shows that of 23.5 million votes cast, only 30 were incidents of potential noncitizen voting. • Game day superstitions are at their height as the Astros continue to battle in the World Series. Wives and girlfriends of the players reported traditions such as maintaining the same seating order after a win, never wearing the same outfit again after a loss, and only ordering Astros merch after a win. • Twitter is rumored to be considering a policy whereby they will charge $20 a month for users to display the blue "verified" checkmark on their profile. The change would be a new method of fighting fake accounts. (FOX 26 Houston via Facebook)
