Mom, Boyfriend Charged In Beating Death Of 2-Year Old Son

HOUSTON, TX — A mother and her boyfriend are expected in court Tuesday and could face additional charges in the beating death of the woman’s 2-year old son Saturday.

Lynette Monique Gasper-Washington, 25, and her boyfriend, Rajfik Keating, 24, are charged with aggravated assault injury to a child, which could be upgraded to murder.

Firefighters were called to the 7600 block of Creekbend at about 10p.m. Saturday for a report of a child who was not breathing, according to a KTRK report.

Paramedics began CPR child, who was taken to Southwest Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died.

Investigators said the child had numerous visible injuries and bruises on his back, arms,chest and legs, according to a KPRC report.

Washington and Keating were arrested at the home and taken to the Harris County Jail, where they are still being held.

Prosecutors in the case said the child had been hit with a hand and a belt, had also been burned, and may have also been sexually abused, KPRC reported.

A doctor who examined the boy said the injuries were a case of severe child abuse.

Two other children who were in the home, a 5-year old girl and an 8-month old boy, have been taken from the home and are with Child Protective Services.
