Houston Hyatt Regency 40th New Year’s Eve Celebration| Downtown Houston| Houston’s longest-running New Year’s Eve celebration returns to Hyatt Regency Houston when the iconic downtown hotel will host a ruby-themed kick off to 2018 with a midnight cascade of 50,000 red balloons, two live bands, DJ, party favors and a drawing for a diamond-encircled ruby ring from Rice Village Diamonds valued at more than $7,000.
Spanning four floors, Hyatt Regency Houston’s 40th Anniversary New Year’s Eve Party features the live music sounds of the Fab 5, country music star Roger Creager and the DJ sounds of 33 1/3.
General admission tickets are on sale starting Dec. 4 online via Eventbrite or at the hotel’s front desk. Priced at $149 per person + tax, general admission tickets include four beverage tickets, party favors and the hotel’s famous midnight balloon drop.

Houston Downtown Aquarium| A family fun New Year’s Eve| Spend your New Year’s Eve with Sharkey, the aquarium’s mascot, and participate in kids activities like a dance party and a balloon drop at the Downtown Aquarium. A kids buffet (ages 3 to 10) is $21.99 and an adults buffet is $29.99. 11am.

House of Blues|A Very Metal New Year’s Eve| Let your hair down, pull out your ripped jeans and unleash your inner rocker, as you take in some of the best cover bands in the Houston area to ring in 2018. Featured performances from metal cover bands including Ozz, Kiss Alike, Judas X, and No Remorse at the House of Blues venue in Downtown. Tickets range from $15 to $18. 8pm.

’80s Prom New Year’s Eve Party| Downtown Houston|MKT Bar at Phoenicia. It’s time to find those parachute pants and Members Only jackets, or maybe your 80iest prom get up for this ’80s flashback party. No cover to attend; $25 per person minimum for table reservations. 8pm.

High Noon Countdown at The Woodlands Children’s Museum| Get a head start ringing in the New Year with the kids at the High Noon New Year’s Eve party. This is designed especially for the little partly animals and includes arts and crafts galore. Included with general admission to the museum. New Year’s Eve from 10am to noon and then again from 1pm to 3pm.

New Year’s Eve Party at Midnight Rodeo Katy|7p.m.-2a.m.| Ring in 2018 at one of the Houston area favorite boot scoot venues. Midnight Rodeo Katy hosts their New Year’s Eve party featuring $2 wells and $3 Jack Daniels until 11pm. No cover before 9pm; cover charge at the door after 9pm.

Ring in the New Year at Queensbury Theatre|Got something smoother in mind to welcome 2018? Join ECHOschestra and singer Tianna Hall for an evening of big band, jazz, and classical pops at Queensbury Theatre. Wine and light bites will be available for purchase and each guest will receive a swag bag and party hat to ring in the New Year. 6:30pm to 11:30pm.

New Year’s Eve at Big Texas Spring – Twp-step into the 2018 with a concert from country music artist Jason Cassidy at the Big Texas Saloon in Spring. Tickets are $20. 7pm-2a.m.

New Year’s Eve Brew Bash at Galveston Island Brewing|Galveston| Party on the bay and start 2018 off just right. A wristband will get you access to the open bar, live music, light bites, party swag, and a champagne toast. Wristbands are $40. Designated drivers wristbands (no open bar) are $10. 10pm.-1a.m.

New Years Eve Party at Big Texas Clear Lake – Kick 2017 out the door and welcome 2018 at the Big Texas Dance Hall & Saloon in Clear Lake with cash prizes, a balloon drop, and a toast at midnight. Tickets are $10. 7pm.-2a.m.

2018 NYE Party at Neon Boots Dancehall & Saloon – Giddy up into 2018 as the cowboy-themed LGBT-friendly venue. NYE events include a balloon money drop, a champagne toast, and a free breakfast. Tickets are $20 at the door. VIP tickets are available starting at $125. 7pm.-2 am.

New Year’s Eve Party at Churrascos Westchase – Take part in delicious 3-course dinner at Churrascos Westchase and enjoy with raffle prizes, drinks, and live entertainment from Mary Frometa and her band. Tickets are $89. 8pm-2am.

Where to catch it: CNN
Why you should watch: For the first time ever, Anderson Cooper will host CNN’s annual New Year’s Eve Live special with none other than “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen. As these two are best friends in real life, you can expect tons witty banter and hilarious moments from the pair. The Bravo mogul will replace Cooper’s former co-host Kathy Griffin, whom CNN fired after her controversial Donald Trump photoshoot.

Where to catch it: ABC
Why you should watch: Remember last year’s infamous Mariah Carey mic incident? Yes, it happened on Seacrest’s watch. So if that’s any indication, this could be a good one to tune-in to. And even if there aren’t any crazy celebrity snafus, you can count on crazy views of Time Square packed with people, as well as awesome musical performances.
