Police Identify Man Found Partially Decapitated In Southwest Houston Parking Lot

Reports: A witness reported hearing someone call for help from the parking lot just before 2 a.m.

HOUSTON, TX — Police have identified a man who was found naked and partially decapitated in the parking lot of a southwest Houston apartment complex early Monday.

Byiringiro Mupenzi, 25, was found stabbed to death in the 6100 block of Marinette Drive, shortly before 2 a.m. (Want to get daily updates about traffic news and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Houston Patch morning newsletter.)

A witness told police that he heard someone one calling for help from the parking lot shortly before 2 a.m., and when he looked outside, he saw Mupenzi’s body, KTRK reported.

Mupenzi, who lived at the Santa Clara Apartment complex where he was killed, came to the United States from the Congo in 2013, officials said.

Investigators examined Mupenzi’s car parked nearby, and found blood inside indicating he was either attacked in his car, or the door was open at the time of the attack, KPRC reported.

Police are reviewing footage from security cameras as they search for more clues.
