Prosecutors: Ex-Houston ISD Employee Impregnated 13-Year Old Student
Former HISD employee had sex with the Hartman Middle School student several times late last year.

HOUSTON, TX -- A former Houston ISD employee who was arrested Wednesday on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year old student, allegedly impregnated the girl, according to prosecutors.
Mauricio Mendoza, 37, who is a native of El Salvador, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14.
Prosecutors in the case revealed the pregnancy in court on Thursday morning.

According to court documents, Mendoza allegedly had sex with the Hartman Middle School student several times last year.

In December, school district officials learned of the inappropriate relationship between Mendoza and the student, and he was removed from the campus.
HISD launched an internal investigation in December, and also notified Houston Police and Child Protective Services about the allegations.
Houston Police conducted a lengthy investigation, which concluded earlier this month, and presented charges to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
