Shane T. Frank, COO, on Fitness During Business Travel
Shane T. Frank shares insight into the best ways to stay fit during business travel.

If you naturally have an active routine of eating right and getting some regular fitness in, business travel can sometimes throw this off. Traveling for work can be stressful at times, but it doesn’t mean you should lose sight of your goals, or fall off track from your daily routine. Depending on your day to day schedule during travel, you can usually try and fit in some time for a meaningful fitness routine. For the best ways to stay fit when traveling for business, follow a few of these tips:
Prioritize Time
With a busy schedule, you may be concerned about how much time you have available. Whatever your schedule looks like, try to dedicate at least 30-45 mins to yourself, to focus on getting a quick work out in. Morning workouts are a great way to prepare for your day, and kick start it with your best foot forward. If you need a little extra motivation, download a fitness app on your phone that will help you track your workouts, and help manage your schedule.
Use Your Resources
During business travel, you really want to stick to packing your essentials. Meaning, packing weights and work out equipment might not be your best option. Don’t worry about a lack of equipment, or let that get in the way of developing a healthy routine while on your trip. Use your resources. Many hotels have gyms guests can use during any time of the day. If you’re really looking for some equipment, take a trip over to the gym before the start of your day, or after you come back to the hotel to settle down; if your days a really busy, however, you might want to consider getting this done in the earlier hours of the morning. If you’re not a fan of the hotel gym or your time is limited, a morning run with a few bodyweight exercises can be much more effective than you may think.

Stay Active
There are plenty of opportunities to stay active during business travel, aside from a morning run or workout. Your time may be limited depending on what your agenda looks like for your trip. Do what you can to stay active, even if you’re not technically working out. Always try and take the siras over the elevator. If you have somewhere to go and it’s within good walking distance, take a walk, instead of driving. Even in times when you’re waiting on a flight, use the space within the airport to your advantage; take a few laps around while you wait.
