Sheriff's Deputy Fired For Distributing Obscene Materials Through Department Online Account

Deputy looking at a state jail felony, but more charges could be filed, according to investigators.

HOUSTON, TX -- A six-year veteran of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was fired and may face criminal charges after an investigation revealed he was distributing obscene material online through his sheriff’s department account.

Andrew C. Sustaita Jr., who was assigned to the crime control division, was relieved of duty and arrested on a state jail felony after an investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office High Tech Crime Unit determined he was allegedly involved in producing obscene online material.

“The possession of obscene and illicit material is made even more troubling when a Sheriff’s Office employee is found to be involved,” said Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. “Every resource of this office will be dedicated to protection the public and holding our employees accountable for wrongdoing.”
