Skeletal Remains Found With 3 Abandoned Children In West Houston

The children were found in an apartment complex in "deplorable conditions," Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.

HOUSTON, TX — Authorities found three abandoned children along with skeletal remains Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex in west Houston, police said.

The children were three brothers — ages 7, 10 and 15 — and the oldest called police and told them his 9-year-old brother had been dead for a year and his body was in the apartment, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. The boy told authorities his parents hadn't lived at the apartment for several months.

The apartment complex is in the 3500 block of Green Crest, near Addicks Clodine Road and Westpark Tollway, according to authorities.

"They were living in pretty deplorable conditions," Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. "Our hearts break for those three — they're still children — and for the one who passed away."
