Divers Recover Pilot's Body From Plane Crash In Huntsville [UPDATE]

Pilot reported engine trouble in the twin engine Cessna before it crashed in Huntsville pond.

HUNTSVILLE, TX -- A dive team recovered the body of the pilot who crashed a twin-engine Cessna 421 aircraft in a pond near FM 980 and Armadillo Drive, shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The identiy of the pilot has not been released.

Federal aviation officials said the pilot reported engine trouble shortly before the plane crashed at 10:40 a.m..

Witness told Huntsville Police they saw the plane flying low, and hitting several trees before catching fire and crashing into the pond.

Aviation officials found the aircraft resting upside down in the pond, and were not sure at the time how many people were on board.

The Cessna 421 can carry between four and six passengers, plus the pilot, officials said.

Meanwhile, officials are searching the pond for other possible crash victims.

Investigators with the Department of Public Safety said the aircraft took off from Conroe and was flying to College Station, east of Huntsville, at the time of the crash.

Huntsville is located about 60 miles north of Houston on Interstate 45.
