Student Targeted And Killed Near Lamar High School Identified

Delindsey Dwayne Mack, 18, was killed Tuesday at 2800 Bammel Lane.

HOUSTON, TX -- The Houston Police Department has identified the 18-year-old student killed Tuesday afternoon near Lamar High School. Delindsey Dwayne Mack was with a 15-year-old girl, also a student at Lamar, when they were both shot at 2800 Bammel Lane at 12:15 p.m., Click2Houston reported.

Mack was shot multiple times by a suspect who stood over him, ABC13 reported. He was transported to the hospital and later died. The girl was grazed by a bullet and transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspects fled in a small, dark gray, four-door car, possibly a NIssan Sentra or Versa with paper license plates and plastic covering the rear passenger side window, HPD said in a news release Wednesday. Police believe both students were targeted and the shooting may be gang-related.

HPD Chief Art Acevedo tweeted the following message Tuesday afternoon, "We had another possible gang murder today. The cycle of retaliatory violence needs to end. If you love a gang member, love them enough to help bring shooters to justice instead of leaving it to never-ending vengeance. You can get out of jail, but have only one life."

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
