Tomball Cougars Retire Alumni Jimmy Butler's High School Jersey

TOMBALL TX -- The Tomball community shared a special moment with Chicago Bulls Forward Jimmy Butler, who had his high school basketball jersey retired during a pep rally held at Tomball High School Thursday afternoon.
Hundreds of Tomball High School students were joined by community leaders inside the very gym where Bulter practiced his free throws, layups and slam dunks, and wowed crowds during high school games.
Bulter would continue his basketball career to Tyler Junior College, and Marquette University, before being drafted 30th overall by the Chicago Bulls in 2011.

Bulter, 27, was a star player for the Tomball Cougars from 2005 to 2007, and wore No. 1 during his time on the high school court.
But as of Feb. 2, no else ever will again.

Butler’s jersey was retired in front of students alumni, city leaders, and even a few of his Chicago Bulls teammates.

According to a statement from Tomball ISD, Butler enjoyed reuniting with several friends, former teachers, and Coach Brad Ball. He addressed the crowd and encouraged the students to work hard to achieve their dreams.
He also said he is proud to be from Tomball, Texas, and he owes so much to the fans and all of those at Tomball High School for their support.
