Investigators identified one of the suspects as 25-year old Denzel Miles, a former Garda employee who’d been terminated in October, and arrested him two days later with $14,000 and gun in his car.
While police and FBI investigators were questioning Miles, he identified Ronald Freeman aka “Poppa” who’s car was used as the getaway vehicle, the Houston Chronicle reported.
Miles told investigators that he, Poppa, and another man, identified as 20-year old Davione Owens, met up at an apartment in the 3500 block of Woodchase Drive and split the money among themselves.
FBI investigators recovered Miles’ take from the heist that totalled $396,000.
During the investigation, police and FBI learned that Freeman had been reported missing by a friend.
His badly burned body was found later that day on a dirt road in southeast Houston.
Investigators are still trying to determine how Freeman was killed.
Owens, who was planning to flee the country, was arrested by the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, while Miles is free on $40,000 bond.
The case is being investigated by Houston Police and the FBI.
