Two of the three men took their horses at a slow trot through the store that lasted all of two minutes but left a lasting impression on employees, shoppers and even store security officers.

At least one of the horses left his mark, leaving a trail of horse manure as he meandered through the store aisles.

Fields, who shot a video, said he and his friends just wanted to make people smile.

“We weren’t trying to hurt nobody or be destructive...you only live once,” Fields told KPRC.

Officials with the Houston Humane Society issued a statement calling the short ride irresponsible that could have endangered customers, the riders and the horses.

"This would be extremely stressful on any horse," the statement read in part. "Horses can easily become spooked, endangering not only themselves, but also any shoppers they might encounter."

Walmart corporate offices also released a statement calling the incident a "reckless stunt" and said they were thankful no one was hurt.
