U of H Head Coach Tom Herman Rumored To Be Closing Deal With LSU
LSU, U of H both dismiss claims that Herman could lead LSU football program

HOUSTON, TX -- University of Houston Head Football Coach Tom Herman is rumored to be the a top candidate for the head coaching position at SEC powerhouse Louisiana State University, and could be offered a new deal this weekend.
Numerous reports began circulating of Herman's departure after he met with LSU officials in Houston on Thursday.
However, officials with U of H and LSU have both denied reports that Herman is leaving.

I have not been informed by Tom or his agent that he's accepted a position at LSU. We are in Memphis preparing for a game," Hunter Yurachek, U of H vice president for athletics, said in a statement.
Herman, who cane to U of H in the wake of Coach Kevin Sumlin's departure for Texas A&M University, has been rumored to be considered for positions at Texas A&M and the University of Texas, where Coach Charlie Strong is on the hot seat.

LSU fired Les Miles on Sept. 25 after the team's 2-2 start to the season. Louisiana native Ed Orgeron is currently interim head coach at LSU.
On Thursday,LSU's Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Avella tweeted that there was no firm decision on who the next head coach would be at the LSU
"Coach Orgeron has done a great job of leading this team since taking over in late September...As we stated earlier, we are going to take our time and make sure we select the right person to lead our football program."
LSU is also reportedly interested in Florida State Head Coach Jimbo Fisher.
Tilman Fertitta, the UH board of regents chairman, said he "does not fear a bidding war" with other schools to keep Herman.
"He's not going to leave because of money," Fertitta said. "We're going to do whatever it takes to keep Tom."
