Valero Employees Chip In To Buy Security Guard An SUV For Christmas

Security guard has ridden a bicycle to work for months because his car wouldn't start.

HOUSTON, TX -- Employees at a Houston area refinery pitched in this Christmas season to buy the man who keeps them safe a new SUV.

For several months, the security guard known as Adrian has been forced to ride a bicycle to work, rain or shine, after his car broke down and he couldn’t afford the repairs.

Taking Adrian’s safety into account, the employees at the Valero Coker Unit, chipped in enough to buy their friend a new SUV, and presented it to him when he came onto the night shift on Thursday.

His fellow employees greeted him in the parking lot to wish him a Merry Christmas, and told him they had a gift for him.

Even as they walked up to the Toyota SUV, Adrian didn’t seem to realize that the vehicle belonged to him, until they handed him the keys.

“I know you’ve been praying for a blessing. Here it is,” one of the employees said as they placed the keys in Adrian’s hands. “This man has been riding his bike to work, but now anymore. The whole unit chipped in and bought this man a car for Christmas.”
