Veterans help repair Houston home of 82-year-old Army Band vet

U.S. military veterans from ExxonMobil support Independence Heights veteran with improvements to aging home built in 1946

Military veterans and their families worked Saturday to help repair the aging home of an 82-year-old comrade in need.

Members of ExxonMobil’s Veteran Advocacy and Support Team partnered with the nonprofit Rebuilding Together Houston to repair the home of Adolphus Singleton, who has lived in the home since it was built in 1946.

Singleton is a military veteran himself, having played slide trombone in what is today known as the U.S. Army Field Band.

Volunteers spent the day replacing siding and trim, installing a storm door and scraping, caulking and painting the exterior of Singleton’s home.

“I thank ExxonMobil and Rebuilding Together Houston for coming out and doing the repairs on my house,” Singleton said. “This has been a wonderful experience.”
