What’s Happening In Houston This Weekend: Fun Events In Your Town

Astros and Dynamo, live music and free movies, food, and a lot more.

HOUSTON, TX — The fireworks may be over, but there’s still plenty of summer left and plenty of things happening in Houston and the surrounding area.

The weekend starts Friday with a few events in Houston and the surrounding area such as:

  • Enjoy live music — Let the music take you on a journey with evening with Silvertouch featuring rock, pop, soul, blues, country, and dance from the ’70s to today’s hits. Located at Central Green Park in Katy, 23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.
  • Catch a Flick: Head downtown for the Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow screening of Dirty Dancing . The movie starts at 8:30 pm, so come early and bring a blanket or your lawnchair Located at 301 Milam, or head to The Square at Memorial City, and take in a free outdoor movie screening of Jumanji
  • Got 2 left feet? Learn to salsa dance — Enjoy free salsa dance lessons at Latin Beats every Friday night at Downtown Aquarium. Learn salsa dancing from professional dance instructors from 7 pm – 11 pm. The Aquarium is located at 410 Bagby at Memorial.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY
  • 2nd Saturday at the Depot| Saturday 6-8 p.m.|Tomball, TX: A family oriented event held on the second Saturday of every month. From themed arts and crafts, to games, music and a movie under the stars on the giant inflatable screen, 2nd Saturday is fun for the entire family. This special "Christmas in July" version features Santa and lots of Christmas-themed fun! This month's movie is "Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas". The event is free, so bring your blankets and lawnchairs to the Tomball Depot, 201 South Elm Street, Tomball, TX 77375

  • Harlem Globetrotters at NRG Arena – Tickets start at $19, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 2pm and 7pm.
  • Saint Arnold Pub Crawl in Downtown – Drink your way through bars like El Big Bad, Batanga, OKRA, Molly’s Pub and more to earn a Saint Arnold pint glass at this Downtown Pub Crawl. 2pm to 6pm.
  • The Rose Shrimp Boil in Pasadena Convention Center and Municipal Fairgrounds – Support the work of breast health care organization The Rose at this family-friendly shrimp boil with live music, an auction, kid’s activities and more at The Pasadena Convention Center and Municipal Fairgrounds. Tickets start at $10. 4pm to 8pm.
  • Play at summer campFamily Summer Camp at Bass Pro Shops continues Saturday with free activities for kids Saturdays and Sundays (& Thursday) plus family workshops and more. Family Summer Camp lasts from noon to 5 pm through July 23. Engage in activities such as casting challenge, BB shooting range, weekly crafts and free workshops. Bass Pro Shops has two Houston-area locations in Katy (5000 Katy Mills Circle) and Pearland (1000 Basspro Drive).
  • Trolls Movie Screening at Discovery Green | FREE – Bring the whole family out to Discovery Green for a screening of Dreamworks’ animated movie Trolls. 8:30pm.
  • Jazz & R&B Date Night at The Alley Kat – Plan a date night to The Alley Kat in Midtown for dinner and jazz and R&B music from a live band. Seats start at $20. 8:30pm.
  • Mason Jar Planter DIY Workshop at Pop Shop America – Get crafty and BYOB to this workshop hosted by Pop Shop America where you’ll learn how to make a wall-mounted mason jar planter. $36. 11am to 1pm.
  • Farmers & Artisans Market and Dog Adoption Fair at Southern Star Brewery | FREE – Stop by Southern Star Brewery to shop their afternoon farmer’s market and enjoy a beer. Montgomery County Animal Shelter Texas will be on site with adoptable dogs. Noon to 4pm.
