HOUSTON, TX — Got weekend plans? This is a weekend you may not need to make plans at all with so many activities happening in Houston, The Woodlands, Cypress, the Heights and Sugar Land.

You can get an early start on your weekend with several events kicking off Thursday night, and make it a great start to your weekend.

Freeport Riverfest 2018| Thurs-Sat| Freeport TX|Riverfest hosts a variety of activities and entertainment from the annual BBQ Cook-off and Carnival to the Washer Tournament and Kid Zone. We have entertainment going on starting Friday evening with the Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament hosted by the Recreation Center. Again this year is the beer garden which will be open both nights. Harvey Heroes: Discovery Discussion |Friday, April 27, at 7 p.m.| Discovery Green| Features short testimonials by some of the Houstonians who stepped up to rescue, assist, feed, clothe and shelter those affected by Hurricane Harvey, as well as a presentation by Dr. Stephen Klineberg about Harvey’s impact on Houstonians, as reflected in the 37th Annual Kinder Houston Area Survey. Screen on the Green| Saturday, April 28 at 8:15 p.m.| Enjoy a family-friendly movie at Discovery Green with a view of the downtown Houston skyline during Bank of America's Screen on the Green, a free film series presented by Taquerias Arandas. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and arrive early for contests and other activities. Watch along as aspiring musician Miguel, confronted with his family's ancestral ban on music, enters the Land of the Dead to find his great-great grandfather, a legendary singer.
