WingStop Employee Shoots, Wounds Robber During Foot Chase

A WingStop employee engaged a robbery suspect on a Houston street, after the man robbed his store: Cops

HOUSTON, TX — A man who robbed a WingStop Restaurant in Houston’s Third Ward late Tuesday, was wounded in a brief gun battle with an armed employee.

Police said the robber came into the store in the 3700 block of Scott Street and demanded money.

Witnesses said the man, who was wearing a mask and wearing all black, came into the restaurant at about 11 p.m., and kept reaching for hs waistband, like he had a gun, KPRC reported.

Police said the WingStop employee handed over the cash, and when the robber ran out the store toward the Texas Southern University campus, the employee, who was armed, ran after him, igniting a brief gun battle, KTRK reported.

Police responding to the area found the robbery suspect wounded with a bullet in his leg, in an open area near Canfield Street, officials said.

He was taken to an area hospital and is expected to recover.

He will likely face charges for aggravated robbery.

Charges were not filed against the WingStop employee.
