Woman Killed In Crash After Chase Involving Robbery Suspect: HPD
Two children and a Harris County Sheriff's deputy were injured in a multiple car accident in NE Houston, and the robbery suspect fled.
HOUSTON, TX — A robbery and police pursuit in northeast Houston on Wednesday night led to a crash that killed a woman and injured six others, including two children and a Harris County Sheriff's deputy, according to authorities.
The crash involved seven cars and occurred at the intersection of Laura Koppe Road and Lockwood Drive just before 11 p.m. The deputy's patrol vehicle and a black car collided in the intersection, triggering a chain of collisions with other cars. It's unclear which car was the striking vehicle, according to Houston Assistant Police Chief Chandra Hatcher.
The driver of the black car was killed, and two children in the car, a 5-year-old and a 2-year-old, were taken to the hospital. The older child is in critical condition, and the younger in stable condition, according to authorities.

The deputy's patrol car briefly caught fire, and he was pulled from the crash by passerby. The deputy was then taken to a hospital in stable condition. Three other adults were taken to hospitals for treatment of "very minor injuries," Hatcher said.
The robbery suspect fled after the crash.

The deputy saw a man in a mask get in a car matching the description of a car used in another robbery and leave the CVS at U.S. 59 and Tidwell Road. The driver refused to pull over for a traffic stop, leading to the pursuit, according to Hatcher.
The suspect is a Black man, and the suspect's car is a gray sedan, possibly a 1990s Lincoln Town Car, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
The Houston Police Department is investigating the crash and will be assisted by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, which also is investigating the two robberies.
