Good Shepherd Episcopal Welcomes New Rector Rev. Mark Brown

Kingwood, TX – January 29, 2026 – Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 2929 Woodland Hills Drive, joyfully announces the calling of the Rev. Mark Brown as its new rector. Brown will begin his ministry on March 23, following an enthusiastic call from the vestry. Brown brings more than two decades of leadership experience across nonprofit, ministry, and community service sectors – both in the United States and internationally. Since 2017, he has served as chief executive officer of West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM), where he led the organization through a period of remarkable growth. Under his leadership, WHAM now helps approximately 12,000 people each month with critical services that help prevent homelessness and support families in crisis. “We are thrilled to welcome Rev. Mark Brown to Good Shepherd,” said Bob Kessler, senior warden of the vestry. “His pastoral heart, leadership experience, and passion for serving the community align beautifully with our mission. We look forward to the new season of ministry that will unfold under his guidance.” Brown expressed his excitement about joining the Good Shepherd community. “Good Shepherd is a parish with a strong spirit of welcome, compassion, and faith,” he said. “I am honored to walk alongside this congregation as we deepen our discipleship, strengthen our ministries, and continue serving the people of Kingwood, Humble, Atascocita, Porter, New Caney, and beyond.” All are welcome to attend a Celebration of New Ministry and installation service, which will be scheduled in coordination with the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. HUFFMAN, TX — A mother and three children were killed early Wednesday when their mobile home erupted in flames. Firefighters and Harris County Deputies were called at about 4 a.m. for a fire on Cherry Laurel Street in Huffman. Officials said <a href="http://abc13.com/police-multiple-people-killed-in-mobile-home-fire-/2956807/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">the woman and her children were killed</a>, while the woman's husband was severely burned, and taken to area hospital, KTRK reported. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the three children were ages 10, 12 and 15, and their mother was in her 30s. Officials have not released the names of the victims or indicated how the fire may have started. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
