300 Additional Deputies Will Bolster Area School Districts

Constable Mark Herman said he will add extra patrols at 5 school districts in north Harris County.

SPRING, TX -- The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office is coordinating with five area school districts in their patrol areas to provide extra protection at area campuses. Constable Mark Herman said they met with the police chiefs of the area school district police department’s to discuss strategies for the 2018 school year.

Herman said he is dedicating nearly 300 additional patrol deputies toward school safety.

“Many of these schools are directly in the areas our deputies currently patrol. School checks and traffic enforcement in school zones will become a part of our daily duties as in years past,” Herman said in a statement.

School districts within precinct 4 in Harris County include Spring, Klein, Cy-Fair, Humble, and Tomball. All of those school districts, except for Tomball, have their own dedicated police department.

The Spring Independent School District will be the first to open their schools for the new school year on Aug. 15. The other districts will begin the following week.
