Hot Pursuit From Humble Ends In West Houston

William Landers, was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to register as a sex offender and possession of a controlled substance.

HUMBLE, TX — A man who led DPS troopers and Harris County Sheriff’s deputies on a wild chase from Humble to west Houston is in the Harris County Jail.

The hot pursuit started as a traffic stop at at about 7 p.m. Thursday at Interstate 69 and Will Clayton Parkway, ande ended in a cras about an hour later.

The man, identified as William Bernard Landers, was wanted on outstanding warrants for failing to register as a sex offender and possession of a controlled substance.

Deputies said Landers refused to stop, and led deputies south on I-69, and eventually to Interstate 10 westbound.

During the pursuit, deputies fired shots at Landers who rammed two patrol cars trying to stop him during the pursuit, KTRK reported.

Landers eventually crashed his pickup into a van and then a tree at Hammerly and Brittmoore in west Houston.

Landers got out of his truck and demanded that deputies shoot him, KPRC reported.

DPS deputies tased Landers and took him into custody.

There were no injuries in the pursuit.

Landers' bail has not been set.
