The day before the attack, Brooks allegedly asked if he could return to the home, but she told him no.
The owner said that during the argument, Brooks took a folding knife from his pocket and threatened the year-old pitbull, named Drama.
A few hours later, she let Drama out to relieve herself and when she didn't come back in, she went outside and found Brooks holding a bloody Drama, according to the Chronicle report.
Drama was suffering from several stab wounds to her wounds to her neck and chest and was rushed to a veterinarian, but her wounds were too extensive and she had to be euthanized, KTRK reported.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to Brooks' arrest.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office is asking that anyone who has seen Brooks to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-8477.
