Hurricane Harvey: Flooding Causes Cancellation Of Kingwood Town Hall Meeting

Town hall meetings that were scheduled beofre Hurricane Harvey are cancelled to allow residents time to recover from the storm.

KINGWOOD, TX — Houston City Councilman Dave Martin announced Tuesday that he is cancelling the town hall meetings scheduled for later this month, due to the flooding in his district.

Town hall meetings were scheduled for District E residents in Kingwood on Sept. 12, and in Clear Lake on Sept. 14. (Want to get daily news updates and other events going on in your area? Sign up for the free Humble-Kingwood Patch morning newsletter.)

Both of those areas suffered severe flooding during a four day onslaught of rain from Hurricane Harvey that finally ended on Aug. 29.

Residents in Clear Lake endured coastal flooding as the storm moved inland at Rockport as well as flooding from bayous and rivers upstream, while residents in Kingwood were inundated with floodwaters from the San Jacinto River, and rising flood waters from area creeks.

Martin, who usually hosts biannual town hall meetings in his district, will reschedule those town hall meetings for another time.
