He now faces felony charges and remains jailed on additional out‑of‑county warrants.

3. Rice announces formation of Commission on Women Serving in Pastoral Ministry (christianindex.org) — An Irving church member, Betsey Gomez of Ekklesia Comunidad Biblica, has been named to a new Southern Baptist commission studying women serving in pastoral ministry. The group, led from Austin and other cities, will recommend how the denomination applies its existing stance limiting the pastor's office to men. Their findings could shape how churches nationwide, including those in Irving, handle women's ministry roles.

4. Best high schools in Texas (kdhnews.com) — A new statewide ranking of top Texas high schools includes at least one campus located in Irving, highlighting strong academics and low student-to-teacher ratios. While the list spans cities like Austin, Dallas, and Houston, Irving families can compare local options against other highly rated schools across Texas when considering where their students might thrive.

5. McKesson Confirms Data Breach: 284M Records, $55M Demand (tech-insider.org) — A massive data breach has hit McKesson, the Irving‑based pharmaceutical distributor that moves about a third of U.S. prescription drugs, with hackers claiming access to hundreds of millions of patient‑record lines.
