Irving Man Attacks Five Men With Machete at North Oak Apartments (irvingweekly.com) β Irving police say a 46-year-old man attacked five men with machetes outside the North Oak Apartments on North Nursery Road, injuring two and leading to five aggravated assault charges. Officers later arrested the suspect at his nearby apartment, recovered multiple machetes, and transferred him from Irving Jail to Dallas County Jail, where he remains held on high bonds and an ICE detainer.

What screens are doing to classrooms (deseret.com) β A private Catholic school in Irving has taken a hard line on classroom technology, refusing to issue tablets or laptops and banning students from social media since 2022. The principal says this approach is improving students' focus, relationships, and respect, even as national experts debate how schools should balance screens, AI tools, and traditional learning.

Dos Santos and Kiptanui Sweep American Cross Country Honors (tulanegreenwave.com) β Cross country fans in Irving hosted a big moment for the American Conference as Tulane runners Petra Dos Santos and Silas Kiptanui swept the league's first Athlete of the Week awards of 2026. Erykah Badu set to headline one-day R&B festival in Irving (dallasnews.com) β Erykah Badu will headline the RNB X Live in Dallas festival at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving on Nov. 1, joined by H.E.R. and several rising R&B artists. Doors open at 4 p.m., and general tickets go on sale Friday at noon, giving Irving-area fans a nearby chance to see Badu's long-awaited hometown performance.
