1. Irving ISD Improves TEA Rating as 12 Campuses Gain Letter Grades, but 15 Remain Low (irvingweekly.com) — Irving families just got a clearer picture of how their schools are doing: Irving ISD's overall TEA score rose from 76 to 78, with all five rated high schools earning A or B grades. Still, 15 campuses remain rated D or F, so the district plans targeted support in instruction, early literacy, and teacher development for 2026-27.

2. 'Brisket bandits' steal $600 in barbecue from North Texas church (dallasnews.com) — An Irving city councilman and pastor is asking for community-service restitution after two men stole about $600 worth of brisket from his smokers outside Bear Creek Community Church during a fundraiser. Irving police are investigating using church security footage, while the event still managed to feed attendees, underscoring both the loss and the congregation's resilience.

3. Two Arrested After 63-Year-Old Woman Pushed to Ground During Irving Apartment Break-In (irvingweekly.com) — Irving police arrested two people after a 63-year-old woman was pushed to the ground during a break-in at the Nuevo Rayo Apartments on W. Rochelle Road. Officers say the pair forced their way in less than half an hour after she reported one suspect for marijuana use, and both now face felony burglary and obstruction or retaliation charges.

4. Betty Storm Alvey (brownwoodnews.com) — Longtime choral teacher Betty Storm Alvey, who spent 29 years nurturing middle school students in Irving and Coppell, has died after a battle with breast cancer. Her family plans a celebration of her life at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving, with service times to be announced, and invites donations to any charity in her honor.

5. Belgian Family Offices Team With RPM Living on Texas Multifamily Acquisition (multifamilyexecutive.com) — A major 374-unit apartment community along Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas has been acquired and rebranded as The Louis Las Colinas, with significant upgrades planned to amenities, exteriors, and interiors. Backed by Belgian investors and RPM Living, the project underscores strong confidence in Irving's growth and could influence rents, housing options, and neighborhood feel for local residents.
