1. After $600 BBQ heist at D-FW church, 1 suspect found, cited (dallasnews.com) — An Irving city councilman and pastor is seeking restorative justice after two men stole about $600 worth of brisket from Bear Creek Community Church's fundraiser, briefly threatening supplies for a Many Helping Hands event. Irving police cited one homeless suspect, who said they shared the meat with people downtown, and the councilman now wants both men to complete community service instead of facing fines or jail.

2. Irving adopts budget (ramblernewspapers.com) — Irving's new $1.16 billion city budget keeps the property-tax rate the same but still raises overall tax revenue and slightly increases typical bills for homeowners and utility customers. Council also approved new water, sewer, and drainage rates, major infrastructure contracts, police grants, tourism marketing support, and a settlement that will raise Atmos gas bills, while setting its next meeting for Sept. 24.

3. Irving Police searching for attempted kidnapping suspect (fox4news.com) — Irving police are asking for the public's help identifying a man who allegedly tried to kidnap a woman at Shady Grove Trail Park on September 14, near Townley Elementary. Residents say the attempted abduction in the well-lit park has shaken their sense of safety, and detectives are sharing surveillance video and contact information for anyone with tips.

4. FBI Puts Up $50,000 To Track Down Texas Double-Murder Suspect (tampafp.com) — Federal investigators are seeking tips from Irving-area residents to help locate a suspect accused in a January 2024 double homicide in Irving that was witnessed by a young child. The FBI's Dallas office is offering up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest and conviction, and urges anyone with credible leads to contact the bureau or submit a tip online.

5. RNB X Live Dallas: Erykah Badu, H.E.R. Coming to Irving (kkam.com) — Irving music fans can catch Erykah Badu, H.E.R., and other R&B artists at Spotify's first standalone R&B festival, RNB X Live Dallas, at the Toyota Music Factory on Sunday, November 1.
