🌱Arlington SWAT Standoff + Vehicle Crashes Into Irving Building

Hey, people of Irving! Ash DeMello here with a fresh copy of the Irving Daily.

First, today's weather:

Sunny and breezy. High: 59 Low: 38.

Here are the top five stories today in Irving:

  1. An hours-long standoff with SWAT officers on Sunday ended peacefully, according to authorities. Police responded to reports of a shooting at a home in the 4500 block of Smokey Quartz Lane in Arlington at around 10:25 AM that morning. At the scene, they discovered an individual had fired shots at an empty car outside a residence. After attempting to make contact with the individual for hours, Arlington police officers were able to determine that he was having a mental health crisis and were able to facilitate additional treatment and assistance.   2. Get the latest from Irving Fire on the major accident that occurred on MacArthur Boulevard on December 31. The agency reports that a vehicle crashed into a building at 8600 N. MacArthur Boulevard around 11:30 AM. One person was injured. (Irving Weekly)
