City Of Irving: IAM Invites Families To Stop By Nov. 13 For Free Ice Cream Social

The whole community is welcome to come out and celebrate the official grand opening of the Irving Archives & Museum (IAM) on Saturday, Nov. 13. Admission to the IAM that day will be free. 

The morning will kick off with a ribbon-cutting and official remarks by Irving Mayor Rick Stopfer. Throughout the day there will be craft activities, an antique car display and an ice cream social. 

In addition, visitors can view the newest exhibit, "Spirited: Prohibition in America," and explore this tumultuous time in American history when flappers and suffragists, bootleggers and temperance advocates - and legends such as Al Capone and Carry Nation - took sides in this battle against the bottle. Period 1920s attire encouraged for this festive day, but not required.

• 10:30 a.m. | Official Ribbon-Cutting
• 11 a.m. | Ice Cream Social, while supplies last
• 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. | Activities 
  • Craft Table – Make a Flapper Headband
  • Stomp Rockets on the Lawn (weather permitting)
