The Parks and Recreation folks note that outdoor restrooms, pool equipment, drinking fountains and other exposed plumbing fixtures are turned off and drained to prevent freeze damage. - A new Public Safety Wellness Unit is in the works for Irving police and firefighters. The program is designed to make mental health services more accessible for first responders by embedding clinicians into the work environments. Dr. Mildred Betancourt, the unit's Senior Manager, hopes the effort will provide police and fire professionals "with a safe space to feel and have permission to bleed without feeling guilty or ashamed because they’re human, and they carry the heaviest of burdens."
