Here are the top five stories today in Irving:

  1. A deadly accident closed eastbound lanes on Highway 183 in Irving early Thursday. The incident occurred at County Line Road and Valley View Lane, killing one person. Police have not yet released additional details regarding the collision. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)
  2. A HazMat alert went out after a gas line was reported damaged at Brown Elementary School in Irving on Thursday morning. The Irving Fire Department responded, and the leak was resolved shortly. The school reopened later that day. (Irving Weekly)
  3. Bubbly fans will want to head over to Coupes, a Champagne bar destined for Dallas' Oak Lawn neighborhood. The drinkery will feature by-the-glass options, bottles as well as a full bar and small plates. Expect a springtime opening at the former Jos. A. Bank space within The Shops of Highland Park.
