🌱Deadly Crash In South Arlington + Loose Cobra In Grand Prairie

Happy Monday, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today in town.


First, today's weather:

Cooler; breezy in the morning. High: 57 Low: 40.


Here are the top stories in Irving today:

  1. One individual was killed and another three injured south of Arlington on Saturday morning. Police say a Toyota Tacoma struck a stalled BMW on South State Highway 360 around 7:55 AM. The force of the collision threw one person from the vehicle, and they later died at the hospital as a result of their injuries. The driver of the Toyota is cooperating with police.   2. NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth offers an update about that cobra that went missing in Grand Prairie nearly four months ago. On August 3, officials told residents to be on the lookout for a poisonous reptile after it disappeared from its enclosure at a home in the 1800 block of Cherry Street near Interstate 30 and Belt Line Road. It's still missing, authorities say. Just in case you happen to run across any type of reptile similar to the cobra that disappeared, authorities say do not approach it and call 911 immediately.
  3. A long project is nearing completion, say officials at the City of Irving. The Delaware Creek Drainage Improvement Project began five years ago with the purpose of containing a 100-year flood and protecting more than 350 structures. The facility is scheduled to be totally complete by May 2022.
  4. The Hispanic 100 Latina Giving Circle at the Texas Women's Foundation distributed $150,000 in grants recently to North Texas nonprofits. Learn more about the charitable folks as well as the recipients over at North Texas e-News.
