Irving City Ready To Tackle Winter Weather

The City of Irving is working hard before the incoming winter storm to ensure the safety and health of the community is protected. City leadership thanks everyone for their patience as Irving works to keep residents, crews, emergency responders and all other staff safe.

Department Updates

  • The City of Irving Streets Department is ready to act in the event of ice.
  • Irving Solid Waste Services anticipates trash and recycling collections in the early part of the week could be delayed or possibly suspended. Collections will resume as soon as weather permits.
  • The Hunter Ferrell Landfill may close due to inclement weather.
  • The Irving Arts Center’s galleries will be closed Sunday, Feb. 14, and programs scheduled that day have been postponed, including Second Sunday Funday To Go pickup and NPOI’s Sunday at the Symphony Concert Honoring Our First Responders. Both events are rescheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21. Previously purchased tickets for the NPOI concert will be honored on the new date.
  • The Irving Animal Care Campus will close 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 13. It is expected to reopen for normal business hours Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Motorist Tips from Irving Police

  • Stay home and off the roadways if at all possible.
  • If an accident occurs, move your vehicle off the roadway as soon as possible.
    • If vehicle is disabled in lane of traffic, get out of the vehicle and off the roadway.
    • Wait inside a business or in a parking lot, away from traveling vehicles that could collide with your vehicle, you or passengers.
    • Call 911 if vehicle is in the roadway or if anyone is injured.
    • If there are no injuries and the vehicle can be moved off roadway, call police non-emergency number (972) 273-1010.
